Pybus Point Lodge

This was the trip of a lifetime! Honestly, I am not a fisherman, so I felt a little trepidation about going on the trip, but I couldn't be more happy that I did. Our boat captain, Doug, and future captain, Tara, were amazing and very helpful. I caught a ton of fish! The ENTIRE staff at the lodge were welcoming, outgoing, and made us all feel right at home. The scenery and wildlife were out of this world beautiful. It was like Colorado on steroids! We met a lot of other people that had been to lodges all over Alaska, and everyone of them said this was the best one in the entire state. I'd bet my mortgage they're right. Take it from someone who didn't think they'd have a good time, this is the perfect place for you and your family! P.S. If you are like me and worried about flying on the seaplane, do it! Couldn't even tell when we hit the water. It was literally the smoothest landing I've ever had.

I'm not really a hunting/fishing type of girl but after hearing my husband rant and rave about this place (he's been before), I wanted to go too, just to see the beauty and experience Alaska. I figured I'd hang out at the lodge and read my book on the deck while he fished. I'm so glad I didn't. My trip to Pybus was a bucket list item I didn't know I had and it was AMAZING- beyond words. Ryan and Brighton (our boat captains/fishing guides) were SO patient in teaching and helping me and we had SO MUCH FUN! They went out of their way to make sure we were all experiencing the adventure to the fullest. I CAUGHT MY FIRST FISH!!! AND THEN ANOTHER AND ANOTHER!! ALL WEEK! We caught SO MANY fish- I think even the serious fishermen were impressed. They also generously pointed out the amazing wildlife and worked so hard to make our dreams come true - SO BEAUTIFUL! Whales breeching right next to us, orcas, sea lions, star fish, bald eagles...A BEAR! ALLLLL THE AMAZING ANIMALS! Breathtaking. The other couples on our boat were also highlights of the trip- we became fast friends, even though we'd never met before and had SO MUCH FUN- we exchanged numbers and have been sharing recipes and pictures of our fish dishes since coming home. Another highlight- so much food! Soooo delicious! (Scones for the win!! WOW!! Warm soup in mugs to take on the boat... double wow!) Hats off to the chef and kitchen staff.... they were all helpful, friendly, accommodating, and just so kind. Ivy... I can't remember the other girls' names, but they were 10/10 the best. And... our room was beautiful, quiet, comfy, warm, indulgent, clean- I can't even think of all the positive words needed to describe it! Bree (the activity guide) took us on a couple of hikes and was THE BEST at making sure we saw what we wanted to see and experience everything they had to offer. At Pybus there were so many personal touches that made us feel welcome, part of a big family almost (which is way out of my comfort zone) - being met at the dock upon arrival by Daryl and having Vance point out a family of deer from the deck, Anna smiling, Mel at the gift shop... I know I'm not mentioning everyone that was there to make our trip such a dream, but Thank you, to all of you. I wish I could give Pybus more than 5 stars- more like 50000. It was that great. 10/10 would do again and recommend to anyone. And, one more thing- the way they treat their staff and everyone around them- deserves a post of its own. I know they didn't do it for notice or show, or for any other reason than they're just AMAZING HUMANS, but I saw Vance (one of the owners- and yes, you get to know everyone by name... they're just that kind and sooo warm and personable) personally serve a plate of hot breakfast to each of the pilots that came to fly us into Juneau on our last day. Daryl offered me toe warmers in case my feet were getting cold one of the rainy days- the other boat captain handed me 3 pairs of gloves to keep my fingers warm on our walk to the waterfall.... It was all beyond words. Well deserved 5 stars.

Words can not express what a unique and spectacular experience it is to visit Pybus and Admiralty Island. The fishing is fantastic and the vistas from the boat and plane are second to none. Any direction you look, you are bound to find something that will prompt you to take out your camera to try and capture it. Humpback whales, bears, waterfalls, glaciers, orcas, sea lions, hot springs, fjords, icebergs, the list goes on and on and you never tire of seeing any of them. Truly, the only thing more remarkable than the environment, are the people who work at Pybus that make the stay as memorable as it can be. The cooks, captains, deckhands, housing and dining staff, event organizers, and pilot are all committed to making each and every guest feel special and have their own unique story that warrants pictures to be believed. This part of the world and this type of genuine care is truly worthy of 5 unquestionable stars.

One of the best vacations for me in my 34 years. I have never done much fishing but I fished for 4 days in a row and had a great time. The captains Doug and Tara made it easy for me to catch some great fish. Captain Doug taught me how to fish and that is a blessing. Truly a luxury experience. I dont know what world class fishing is, but I know this is it. It is a unique experience in one of the most beautiful corners of the world. Up there with my trips to Hawaii and Australia. The experience on land is very cushy and makes it easy to relax after reeling in big fish all day. Top notch food from Jared and crew. Great attentive service from Mikelle from start to finish of the trip. Made us feel welcome. Darrel and Anne made accommodations easy, with a feeling of care given to all matters. Brie helped show us all the things to do from Pybus Point besides fishing, but we just fished and had a great time with each other. I would come back with non-fishers(I was one) for all the beautiful nature and expeditions. Came with father in law and a group of brothers in law. Rooms have ample space, nice showers, very comfy beds. They even put snacks and drinks in you room - The stash is epic. The "campsite" is constructed beautifully and has very nice hot tubs and a large campfire/bonfire area. There is even a pool table in one of the cabins. Other games as well. Great gift shop. Thanks to everyone who helped make our trip to Pybus a one of a kind experience!

This is the most fabulous lodge that I have ever been to. I absolutely don't know how they do it to make it so perfect! The staff is amazing and so friendly and helpful. Every attention to detail is provided in every way on down to games provided in the living area and a piano and guitar in the main lodge!!! Fishing is amazing and if you don't want to fish, there are many excursions that are also included in the trip. So many memories made. We saw bear, eagles, otters, whale, dolphins that played with us right next to the boat!!!! Captain Jeff was the best. I would give more than five stars if I could.

What a unique experience at Pybus Point Lodge coming from an Alaskan fishing novice like me. The instruction from Captain Doug and Carson that we received was exceptional. This is my first time visiting a lodge like this with my son (also a newbie). It was truly meaningful to have this time together and I’m sure he’s caught the bug to continue with fishing. The fly fishing with Carson was especially amazing and the salmon were biting! Activities director, Brie, was great in steering us toward an array of activities that we may never have tried without her guidance. We experienced the full range of Alaskan weather but nothing could dampen our trip thanks to the care and energy from the entire Pybus staff. -Ken Kellett

This was my second time staying at Pybus Point Lodge! It was my husbands third time! The staff remembered us and warmly welcome us back. Ryan and Carson were our captains and they were so fun and knew exactly where to go to catch lots of fish. We caught so much fish!!! The food was delicious and we always had plenty to eat. The dining rooms staff was friendly and kept us well fed. The kids all loved Darryl and his magic tricks and there were activities planned for everyone’s interests. What an amazing experience!

Pybus Point Lodge was a bucket list item for us. From booking our trip with Daryl and Anna, and answering all our questions promptly. From the moment you get off the plane to the amazing views Pybus has to offer. From an excellent place to stay, to the wonderful and very friendly staff, and our amazing meals, Pybus is top notch ! We had some pretty amazing weather, but were told it wasn’t typical. Thank you to Captain Matt for showing us the ropes and making sure we caught lots of fish! We’re hoping to plan another trip to Pybus soon!
